One Week Off: One Week to Practice!

Good morning, class.

As promised, I have constructed some math practice for you using math-drills.com

There are 20 pages in all labeled Worksheet A-J, respectively. Each page is followed by an answer key.

To be clear, the first page (A) will be the one you will work on. The second page will have the answers to the first page.

The third page (B) will have more problems for you to solve. The fourth page will have the answers to page B --- and so on and so forth.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a message.

Remember you also have access to the AZTEC software. All of you have the information necessary to log in. Take advantage of this key resource.

With that, I leave you to it. Have a safe, productive, week off. I will see you all next week!

Absences!!!

This is just a reminder that if you are going to be absent, you must get in contact with me via email (which you can do on the right side of this page) or by contacting the school on the day of your absence.

By now, you all know how I do.

There is a trend of absences occurring within the class that is unacceptable both by the school's standards and by my expectations of you as your instructor.

Remember, I will and have done my best to help you achieve your goals but I can only do this if you show up to class. My job becomes impossible if you don't make it.

At the end of the day, you are adults --- the accountability of whether you are successful this semester or not is ultimately in your hands.

This means that you must accept the consequences of your absences. Take ownership for missing lessons. At this point in the semester, the content is not getting any easier. I can assure you that missing a day of class is not going to help you in the least bit.

Furthermore, those of you with excessive absences also risk being dropped from the class.

You know who you are.

I hope to see an improvement in this area.

That is all.

I figured I would point you in the right direction so that you may seek those answers.

You can find out about the new test by clicking here.

For those of you wanting to sign up, visit this link.

The free practice tests are found to the right of this page

Developing your Multiplication & Division Skills

When it comes to math, the importance of strengthening your ability to multiply and divide single digit numbers quickly and correctly cannot be overlooked.

It is important that all of you practice at home. I advised you to invest in some flashcards, similar to the ones I brought to class today. Yet remember that the internet provides many tools you can use --- for free!

I found one that I recommend you all utilize as you practice and improve your multiplication skills. Aplusmath.com has a number of resources worth checking out. The one I thought was relevant to the work we did today was their multiplication flashcards:

http://www.aplusmath.com/Flashcards/Multiplication.html

It is quite simple to use, but you should follow the information I have provided above to ensure you use them as I recommend:

  1. Ensure you select the type of math you intend to practice. I have selected Multiplication in my sample image above.
  2. Select the difficulty level. I recommend starting on Easy but it is imperative that you be able to do this on the Medium level.
  3. Select your answer type as Fill in the Blank. To respond, you will need to type your answer below the card with your keyboard and then hit the ANSWER button to submit your response.
  4. Finally, make sure that for Number Entry, you select Normal.

Practice your multiplication facts with these. I also encourage you to try these in Division. You can do this by simply selecting Division in the Problem Type selection list.

Challenge yourselves. Remember that it is expected that you know how to do this already. Future lessons will be clear if you master these skills I guarantee it!

Click on the image above to get started!!!

Enjoy the rest of your day, I will see you on Monday!

Looking forward to math?

Good evening, class.

I am a big believer that we can improve in any subject --- but this does require dedication and practice.

With that in mind, I encourage you to review your multiplication facts.

The following website will give you a head start on what we will cover this Thursday:

Look under the Multiplication section of that page and select option 1. For more practice, proceed to option 2 (Both options are circled in blue below --- click on the image to go to the website).

You can also take a look at the brief Division lesson as well.

Remember that any extra work you put forth can make the difference when you take your GED.

Contact me if you have any questions! Enjoy your evening!

Welcome everyone!

I have finally completed work on this online resource to our Pre-GED course.

As you all know, I feel that technology is an important part of a modern education. This is one of my many efforts to incorporate this philosophy in my class.

I ask that you seize this effort and utilize this tool to stay connected to what we do in class. My goal will be to update specific pages (Math, Reading, & Writing) with a general overview of what we cover on a given day.

Additionally, I will provide links to various sites that should provide you further opportunities to practice what we do in class from the comfort of your home.

Any extra work you put towards your personal goals only adds to your overall achievement and ability to succeed. Never forget that --- and let that be your motivation.

Finally, I have designed this tool with the hopes that it will provide you with a flexible means to communicate with me outside of our class.

If you utilize the many resources provided to you, I am confident you will succeed.

Enjoy.
